Aiden is 12 years old and will be travelling with his family from small town Ontario to Grenada where his mom is volunteering with Cuso International. This blog will keep track of his thoughts before, during and after his time in Grenada.

Camp week

Last week my mom sent my brother and I to a Christian youth camp for 5 days. When she told me about I really did not want to go. Every morning we would watch a little skit about some people named after cookie.  Then we went to make a music craft, it was a shaker made with sand, rocks and lots of beads.  Then we would go outside for some physical activity like obstacle courses. This was followed by my favourite part, snack time. When we went to music after snack that is when me made friends with our group leaders.  At the end of the morning we had bible stories. I heard some new things about Christianity which will helpme in Grenada because we will be going to a Christian school.

Keep calm and adventure on!

Our family will only be Canada for 42 more days (6 more weeks)! I am already missing my friends very much. On the last day of school I realised I won’t see some of the kids in my class for 12 months – maybe more or maybe less- it depends when my mom’s Cuso contract ends.

42 days is not a long time what I want to do this summer!

In those days I want to: go to Frank Lloyd Wright’s home “Falling Water” which has now been converted into a museum; invite my friends over to our house to swim; play Race the Stig with Jay who is coming from Iqaluit; visit my nana who is also coming; and finish the Maze Runner book series (very good series).

I hope my life in Grenada will be as busy and fun as my summer in Canada. While I will miss my friends and family I hope to have new adventures in Grenada.

My week

We have been doing quite a bit of stuff this past week and have more stuff planned!

On Canada Day my brother and I went to our Nana’s house. When we got there we went to a Canada Day party where Owen went tubing and we made a few new friends. I met an architect who is neighbours with the hosts. He was really young. He was also really nice, I got to go see his pool. He said I could stop in any time.

Wednesday we had a “relax” day. Just doing little things like grocery shopping. It was a hang out day.

Thursday explored Carleton Place a bit.

On Friday prepared to go to Nana’s niece house to go swimming. That was a lot of fun. Megan was there she’s my favourite girl cousin! She’s also the only girl cousin ;-)

Yesterday we went on fun walk around new development with the fancy houses.

Today we went swimming at our uncle James mom’s house, so I saw my aunt Marla. We also went to an open house in my nana’s neighbourhood.

This coming week I am looking forward to going to science and tech museum and then going to the Lego store the next day. I am also really looking forward to going to the races with my aunt Ceilidh & uncle Ken.

I hope we will be able to do lots of exploring in Grenada like we explored Carleton Place.
